What's in my Birchbox? March 2015 - Habitat Collaboration

Another month, another Birchbox, It's actually been a whirlwind month and I haven't had a chance to go through last months, not that I'm complaining, it sometimes feels like I'm waiting longer and longer for each delivery.

This month they have collaborated with Habitat, for me this is a bit of a weird mix. I love Habitat, more I love old Habitat. One of my biggest inspirations for my (70s inspired) home pieces is The House Book by Terence Conran founder of Habitat, of course it has changed quite a bit but they do still have some inspiring, retro pieces that I would love to add into my (one day I'll have my own home) pile. So although I find this collaboration odd, it's still welcome.

So what does this box contain? It's all after the cut....

Benefit BADgal Lash mascara 4.0g (full size: £17.50 for 8.5g)

This was a bit of a disappointment. This month we were given the option of choosing which mascara sample we wanted from Benefit, the options were BADgal, They're real, and Roller Lash, I opted for Roller Lash as I'd fallen in love with it thanks to the Elle sample. I liked They're real but it hadn't wowed me and BADgal just never excited me. I selected Roller Lash, ten minutes after I received the email as it was subject to availability and of course Roller Lash would be popular. For whatever reason I received BADgal, this appears to have been a mistake as I've contacted them and I will receive my Roller Lash sample. So slightly disappointing but at least it's been resolved in the end.

Now the sample is a bit battered but the scent itself is gorgeous. A rich, warm indulgent spicy scent. I'm overwhelmed with perfume at the moment but once I've worked my way through a few bottles I'll look to pick this up.

Philip Kingsley Straight Hair 20ml (full size: £19.00 for 100ml)

I've recently been trying out a few Philip Kingsley hair products, this one I haven't had or at least tried just yet. Straight hair is something I would love, every now and then. I have annoying in-between hair but I've recently had it cut to just below my shoulders. I now want to go shorter but the shorter it gets the more out of control it becomes so I'd like to find out how I can work with it before taking the chop, again. So far I've been loving the other Philip Kingsley products I've tried so I can't wait to give this a go.

TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil 25ml (full size: £24.99 for 100ml)

I was very disappointed with this product, I just don't do tanning, I'm pale and embrace this. I'm sure the product itself is wonderful, it smells nice but as it isn't my thing so I can't really comment.

RMK Ingenious Powder Cheeks P-02 Shiny Silver Pink 3.0g (full size: £26.00 for 3g)

This is the most exciting item I received. I nearly bought a very similar colour blush from NARS but resisted temptation. This is a really gorgeous powder, more of a highlighter than a blush to contour with, it's perfect for my skin tone. I've used this on top of my cheek bones and below my brows, I just love it!

Lifestyle Extras

A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi
This isn't my type of fiction, I'll pass it on to mother.

Birchbox & Habitat Exclusive Notebook
Well, it's practical, not exactly stylish or that exciting but it's useful.

This is the first time I've been disappointed with my Birchbox, the lifestyle extras don't really do it for me, then there was the cock up with the mascara and a tanning oil which is completely not me (I left Glossybox as I kept getting tanning products). I won't be cancelling my subscription just yet but this box felt like there was a bit of a spring clean going on rather than be packed full of vibrant new products.
