Sunday Weigh-In: Seriously Underwhelming

Well this is yet another no change post, upsetting - completely, but I do know it is completely irrational to be upset but in my head I can't change this, I want to see my weight dropping, I put the effort in but nothing. However we're only just entering the second month of the year, things don't change overnight and there are plenty of positives this week but first I wanted to mention another irrational way I see things.

If I drop a couple of lbs I never log it until I've lost a couple more lbs - completely paranoid that its a fluke so until I hit at least another lb under I won't log a loss.

Now is this irrational thought, does anyone else act like this or do most people celebrate any loss at all?

I really should focus on the positives this week. I have increased my activity, a lot. 4 out of the 5 working days I hit over 10,000 steps a day - each day I did a little more and on Friday I managed to do 12,528 steps!

So at least one positive for this week. One more positive was I have actually managed to hit slightly over 10,000 steps on Saturday - unusual for a weekend. Sadly I doubt I will get anywhere close today however......

I do plan on exercising again today, something slightly different to the rest of this week which has included my cross trainer and 7 minutes workout. Today I plan a mixture of jogging and yoga. If I can also at least hit 5,000 with my steps I'll be happy.

Now although I haven't dropped any weight I am a bit more toned, my arms feel slightly smaller which is always good.

Good wise I haven't gone over or under with my eating but I do feel like I'm eating a lot more, picking a lot more. I think this is due to being more active and really as long as I'm in the right range I should be happy. I've been having more interesting lunches at work, like I mentioned last week salad with durum wheat and other extras, a little bit of pasta here and there. I'll still have the odd sandwich but the variety is exciting.

So compared to last week I have managed to literally step it up, plus I'm getting a little bit more of variety with my exercise.

Short term

Exercise - Similar to last week, more steps at the weekend, next weekend it needs to be both Saturday AND Sunday. I also want to keep up with the exercise.
Food - I want to be a little healthier, I also need to eat the stuff we have in, cupboards full and a feezer packed so instead of doing much grocery shopping this week I need to be inventive with what we do have in.
Goals - I want to lose a bit of weight and/or be more toned by the end of February as myself and my partner are having a night out with a hotel stay in Manchester to see a band - this still stands

Long term

Exercise - I want to be able to work out more and have a variety of things to do. I want my weekend to be the time of the week when I do the most steps not the least. I want to be able to lift more. All still stands
Food -  Nothing much here, I'd like to be able to eat more cake though, scrap the cake, more chips instead.
Goals - I have a pair of trousers from Joseph that I used to wear all the time when I was in my early twenties, I still have them and love them so I would like to fit back in them along with all the gorgeous dresses I have. Still the same!

  1. I know the feeling!
Make sure to check out my blog:

  2. Definitely celebrate every loss even if it's temporary - it's good for the soul ! But don't focus on weight - you said you're feeling more toned and you've increased your exercise so that's what's important, not the number on the scales which can change so much for no rational reason at all. Keep going and thanks for linking up xxx

    1. It's so funny how a lot of us lose focus, I know I'm being completely silly as well as this time last year I could barely move from bed now I'm running up the stairs - instead all I think is boo hoo I haven't lost a lb! I think it has to be a cultural thing that we need a number on a scale to make us feel good about ourselves. xx

  3. Keep going, sometimes I don't feel like I've loss weight when I have. Other times I feel better and more toned and I haven't lost anything. It's strange how it works!

    1. Thanks sweetie, I hate having irrational thoughts but at least I'm not on my own with this! xx
