Lose a Stone for Christmas - Weight Loss Week 2

Weight Loss progress shown is from January 2012

This isn't a woo-hoo I've lost weight post, I've neither gained or lost so my weight loss badge is the same. For me it is still important to lose gradually but there are some changes coming about which I thought I should go into.

I mentioned it in my first weight loss post here that I weigh my food. To some people this might seem extreme, obsessive but I much prefer it to guessing and avoiding certain things. I've been back at work this week but only for two days and my partner has had two weeks off so we've had a little holiday at home, this mainly includes watching a ton of films, eating nice food and listening to music. We have had a few take-away's which, although taken into account still aren't too good. As it was a holiday I'm not upset by this nor do I feel guilty, my weight fluctuates so much and I have "lady issues" but as of today I'm happy to say I am where I was before the holiday. Today is the last holiday day but there will be no excuses to eat more, to binge before going back to being sensible, I've had a screme egg but other than that the times they are a changin'.

Whilst I've been ill I've been looked after, food has been prepared and brought to me, even abiding by my strict measurements. It is almost as if I still have control but not quite, it dawned on me today the difference between myself preparing a meal and my partner doing it is huge. My partner adheres to my guidelines whereas I can alter them, if something looks too much I can change it or too little even! Making today's veggie roast will possibly make the difference between and 800 calorie meal and a 600 calorie one as I'll look and judge whether it is too much rather than going by what seems about right or what is considered a portion weight wise. I'm hoping in weeks to come, along with a little more movement by myself, this small thing will make a huge difference and although I'm not expecting miracles, 3lbs loss by the end of October would be superb and a stone by Christmas beyond my wildest dreams.

There is a difference in my attitude this week, although I was eager to get on with it this week I just feel things are just different. I'm more positive and I want to progress, I'm always more positive in the Autumn Winter months whereas some people find this time of the year harder to cope with. I've not done anything that physical for a long while but this week it will all change, starting with an hour of light yoga this afternoon, wish me luck!

  1. I think gradually losing weight is the way to go and it's more likely to stay off that way too.

Autumn is always my favourite part of the year, I love going on long walks as it's cooler than the summer. Sounds like you've got your head in the right place which is always half the battle, thanks for linking up and good luck with the yoga. x

    1. I'm the same, I love long walks but hate the sweatiness of summer, everything is always more peaceful too. I even love walking in the snow! I think although I have still been on the right track until today I haven't been as focussed but hadn't realised it either! x

  5. Being positive certainly helps and maintaining is fantastic as it shows you are doing the right things. I am surprised when I maintain as I would never have been able to previously due to all the rubbish I was eating and my eating habits. Bring on Christmas - we can certainly all reach that stone by then :) x Sim @ Sim's Life

  6. Great to see a new face - 51lb lost is amazing and slow but steady is definitely the key to long-term success so it sounds like you're doing everything right (with the occasional blip, like all of us !) :)

    1. Thank You! I think this is the kick up the bum I need after the year I've had. I think it has taken me over a decade to get back to being sensible and normal but losing the weight slowly has made it so much easier to maintain. If you don't have the occasion small blip the big blips will get you in the end! xx
